Timetable of Friends of Kimono April 2026

Time: 2pm-5pm

Location: Japanese Gallery 23 Camden Passage, Islington, London. N1 8EA

13:30–14:00 (Optional) – Preparation & Welcome Assistance

Guests who wish to arrive early are invited to assist with light preparations, including the arrangement of the space and tea service.
This informal interval offers a quiet introduction to the gathering.

14:00–14:30 – Informal Gathering & Kimono Appreciation

An opportunity for guests to assemble and engage in informal conversation.
Participants are invited to share their kimono and styling, appreciating the craftsmanship, individuality, and cultural resonance of each ensemble.

14:30–16:00 (Weather Permitting) – Neighbourhood Stroll & Photography

A measured walk through Camden Passage, accompanied by an optional professional photography session. A group photograph will also be taken.

The walk will continue towards Angel Central, offering a moment to observe kimono within the contemporary urban setting.

16:00–16:45 – Themed Lecture & Tea Gathering

Kimono Pattern Design in the 19th Century
A selection of historical pattern books will be presented, inviting reflection on motif, symbolism, and design.
Discussion will take place in a calm and convivial setting over tea.

16:45–17:00 – Closing

Concluding reflections to mark the close of the gathering.

 

Announcement

We hope to build upon last year’s Festival for Peace and present a broader event this autumn, dedicated to sharing the beauty of Japanese kimono culture with a wider audience.

13:30〜14:00（任意参加）準備・お手伝い

早めにお越しいただける方は、お茶の準備や会場設営をお手伝いいただけます。
ゆったりとしたひとときの中で、自然に交流が始まります。

14:00〜14:30 自由歓談・着物の集い

ご参加の皆さまで自由に交流いただく時間です。室内でゆっくり一息つきながら、
お互いの着物やコーディネートについて語り合い、装いの魅力や個性を楽しみます。

14:30〜16:00（晴天時）Camden Passageの散策＆写真撮影会

皆さまでゆっくりと近隣を散策し、ご希望の方はプロのカメラマンによる写真撮影を行います。また、集合写真も撮影いたします。その後はAngel Squareの街歩きを楽しみ、街に彩りと静かな喜びを添える時間となればと思います。

16:00〜16:45 テーマレクチャー＆茶話会

テーマ：19世紀の着物図案集にみる文様の世界

お茶をいただきながら、着物の文様デザインをお楽しみいただけます。19世紀の着物図案集をいくつかご覧いただきながら、その意匠や意味、象徴性についてご一緒に探ってまいります。

16:45〜17:00 クロージングご挨拶
