The inaugural Kimono Catwalk hosted by Ezen foundation took place on the 19th of November. It was a major success with a large crowd turning out to celebrate Japanese fashion and watch as models dressed in beautiful Kimono strutted down trendy Camden passage.
The show featured both traditional and avant-garde kimono designs from designers such as Tia Oguri and Dead Lotus Couture – a favourite of Lady Gaga! The catwalk was also open to anyone wanting to show off their own unique takes on kimono, which added another layer to this unique celebration of all thing kimono.
While the kimono catwalk was certainly the main attraction, spectators were also treated to a fabulous salsa dancing exhibition and the chance to take part in a generous prize draw in which several of the local businesses donated fantastic prizes (such as free facials, Japanese wine, high-end perfumes and restaurant vouchers).
Given the success of the event, we plan to host a future kimono catwalk – even bigger and better – in the new year, so please follow @ezenjapan on Instagram to keep up to date with all future events.
