Friends of Kimono April 2026

On 18 April 2026, we warmly invite you to join our Friends of Kimono – a relaxed and joyful gathering celebrating the beauty of kimono and the spirit of community.
This event is open to anyone who owns a kimono and is confident dressing themselves. It is intended as a relaxed and welcoming gathering for kimono enthusiasts to come together, share their appreciation, and enjoy a day centred around Japanese culture and everyday elegance.
We hope this will become a regular gathering in time, but as this is our very first event of its kind, we would be delighted simply to enjoy an intimate and memorable occasion together in kimono. If the weather is fine, we may take a gentle stroll around the local area, enjoying a peaceful day together while also offering those nearby the chance to appreciate the beauty of kimono. If it rains, we will remain indoors and enjoy tea, conversation, and each other’s company in a calm and relaxed setting.
Kimono Gathering
A shared occasion to wear and appreciate kimono, celebrating personal style, craftsmanship, and cultural heritage.
Angel area walk
A leisurely group walk through the neighbourhood (weather permitting) bringing colour, elegance, and quiet joy to the streets.
As with future gatherings, we will have a theme to guide our conversation over tea. For this first gathering, we will explore kimono pattern design through a selection of 19th-century kimono pattern books, considering their motifs, meanings, and symbolism.

2026年4月18日、着物の美しさとコミュニティの温かさを祝う
「Friends of Kimono」を開催いたします。
この催しは、ご自身で着物をお召しになれる方で、着物をお持ちの方であればどなたでもご参加いただけます。着物を愛する方々が集い、その魅力を分かち合いながら、日本文化と日常の中の美しい装いを楽しむ、気軽で温かな集まりです。
私どもとしては、今後この会を定期的な集まりとして育てていければと願っておりますが、今回は初めての試みでもありますので、まずは着物をまとってご一緒に和やかで心に残るひとときを過ごせれば何よりと考えております。お天気に恵まれましたら、近隣をゆっくり散策しながら、皆で穏やかな一日を楽しみ、地域の方々にも着物の美しさをご覧いただければと思っております。雨天の場合は室内にて、お茶を楽しみながら会話を交わし、ゆったりとしたひとときをご一緒できれば幸いです。
着物の集い – 着物をまとい、その魅力を味わいながら、装いの個性、職人の技、そして文化的な背景をともに愛でるひととき。
エンジェル周辺の散策 – ご近所を皆でゆったり歩く小さな散策(お天気が良ければ)。街に彩りと静かな喜びを添える時間となればと思います。
また、今後の集まりと同様に、お茶をいただきながら語り合うためのテーマを設けます。今回の初回では、着物の文様デザインをテーマに、19世紀の着物図案集をいくつかご覧いただきながら、その意匠や意味、象徴性についてご一緒に探ってまいります。
